MF 35 brakes don't work

I have a MF 35 with brakes that don't function. I shortened the adjustment mechanism but still no brakes when pushing the brake pedal to the floor. Any ideas? It appears that the brakes are mechanical, not hydraulic. Is it most likely no brake pads? How hard to replace? How hard is to find parts? Any help appreciated.....thanks: GEEBEE.
