I've since removed it and put it back on the shelf to be re-built at some future date. A worn output shaft bearing could be the cause of your problem, but it might also be a worn hardy spicer on the propshaft. I understand that on the Ruby it is possible to remove the gearbox and leave the engine in situ but on the RP you have to take the lot out.

How to remove gear from shaft without gear puller?

 · Support the fork well somehow on each side of the motor. If you have a drill press, pull a small finish nail in the chuck with about 1/4" sticking out. Use the drill press as a press and press on the shaft of the motor down thru the gear. If no drill press, then try tapping on the shaft with a nail and hammer, but that likely won't be that easy.

Overhung Load Equation

I want to extend the output shaft of a gearbox by 6 inches, from the face of output seal to the end of the shaft would be 6.00 inches. I want to calculate the overhung load but all of the equations that I find seem to focus around having a pulley or sheave at the end of the standard output shaft, but we will not be adding a pulley or sheave to the end of the shaft.
